We all have a perfect excuse for standing still.
QUESTION
Create a recruitment campaign for working professionals considering their next step — whether that meant reskilling, upskilling or deepening their expertise through a course, part-time degree or master’s.
APPROACH
The target audience was basically everyone with a job, from 18 to 65. Instead of forcing one message onto everyone, we looked for something more human: the excuses we tell ourselves when change gets uncomfortable.
IDEA
The Perfect Excuse became the campaign platform: a simple format built around familiar excuses for standing still. We translated the broad audience into three recognisable archetypes and created a film for each one.
Every film follows the same formula: a triggering question, an increasingly convincing excuse, and the uncomfortable truth hiding underneath. A framework that can easily grow with new people, situations and excuses.
Commit to the perfect excuse.
Each film pushes that excuse just far enough to expose how convincing — and slightly ridiculous — it can become. Through humour and recognisable situations, we made people recognise the story they might be telling themselves.
